11 Oct 2012
On the 30th of August 2012, the recorder group participated in The Mimosa Instrumental Concert at the Opera House. There were 5 children from Mortlake Public School that participated. They were, Daisy B, Mia B, Axel C, Nathaniel H and Desiray L. These five outstanding students were taught by Mrs Knight.
The day started off by catching the train to Circular Quay. Then we had a rehearsal at the Opera House. Mortlake students were so lucky to be taken on a tour by our recorder conductor Susan Sukar.
Afterwards, we had a delicious afternoon tea of chocolate biscuits, prawn crackers, lollies and poppers.
Then we had a chance to run around the Botanical Gardens, doing races and blowing bubbles.
Soon after that, we walked down to Circular Quay to have dinner at Rossini's. We met our parents at the restaurant and had a little play.
Finally we walked back to the Opera House and sat in our seats. Suddenly the lights went down and the concert began. Then the magic of music filled the Opera House. It was outstanding and every single adult and child was dazzled by the amazing music.
After the concert we met up with our parents and went home.
We were all so tired, but we would gladly do it all over AGAIN!!!
