Building confidence through debate
26 Mar 2026
Students connected with peers and embraced new challenges at Debating Gala Day.
We are so proud of our students who represented Mortlake Public School at the Debating Gala Day, held at Old Guildford Public School.
This exciting event gave students the chance to build their confidence, think critically, and share their ideas in a supportive setting. They also had the opportunity to meet and learn from other young debaters from across the region.
Debating is a valuable part of primary education. It helps students develop strong communication skills, learn to listen to different perspectives, and work as a team. These are skills that support learning in all areas of school and beyond.
We look forward to hearing about the thoughtful arguments, teamwork, and great sportsmanship shown on the day.
Good luck to our debating team for the year ahead.
At Mortlake Public School, we believe every child has unique strengths, whether creative, intellectual, physical or social-emotional. Our High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) program is designed to identify those talents and help students reach new heights through enrichment, extension and accelerated learning.
