Celebrating Aboriginal heritage at Koori Connections

Mortlake students connected, learned and celebrated culture at Koori Connections.
Students from Mortlake Public School enjoyed a memorable day of culture, connection and learning at the Koori Connections event on Thursday 7 May. Held at Alexandria Park Community School, the event brought together students from across the Strathfield Network to celebrate and explore Aboriginal heritage.
Throughout the day, students learned about native plants and discovered more about the Dhawaral language through hands-on activities and shared experiences. There was plenty of curiosity, conversation and teamwork as students connected with peers from other schools and deepened their understanding of culture and Country.
The day was a wonderful opportunity for students to learn from one another, celebrate identity and build stronger connections within the wider school community. We are proud of the way our students participated with enthusiasm, respect and a genuine willingness to learn.
Mortlake Public School provides a wide range of programs to complement the curriculum and broaden our students' learning experience. Taking part in co-curricular and extracurricular activities helps our students build new skills, make friends and explore new interests.
