Recorder ensemble prepares for the Big Stage
03 Jun 2026
Mortlake's Recorder Ensemble is officially getting stage-ready for the highly anticipated Festival of Instrumental Music.
Mortlake Public School’s talented Recorder Ensemble is officially tuning up for the prestigious Festival of Instrumental Music.
To get stage-ready for this exciting event, our young musicians are demonstrating wonderful dedication by gathering for rehearsals every Wednesday morning at 8:00 am. It takes a lot of commitment to arrive early and practice so diligently, and their hard work is already showing results.
Creative programs like the Recorder Ensemble provide a fantastic opportunity for students to build teamwork, develop self-discipline, and express themselves. For our school community, watching these students collaborate and grow in confidence is incredibly rewarding. Bringing together families to support and celebrate the arts is what makes our community so vibrant.
We are immensely proud of our ensemble's effort, passion, and team spirit as they prepare to share their music on the big stage. We cannot wait to hear them perform and celebrate their musical achievements together later this year!
About the Festival of Instrumental Music
The Festival of Instrumental Music (FoIM) brings students from across NSW to perform in combined recorder and string ensembles at the Sydney Opera House.
Together with outstanding instrumental and vocal items from across the state, the festival provides the opportunity for schools to access and perform quality repertoire curated for students in a world class venue.
Participating schools access high quality resources and teacher professional learning opportunities to support their recorder and string ensembles.
The Arts Unit, part of the NSW Department of Education, delivers inclusive, high-quality programs in the arts, language and literacy education. Through performances, workshops and specialised opportunities for high potential and gifted students, it helps young people develop creativity, confidence and talent.
Grounded in the values of public education, The Arts Unit ensures students across NSW have equitable access to enriching experiences that support learning, wellbeing and personal growth.
