Community involvement

Our school values strong partnerships with our families and community. Parents and carers can get involved through our Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) or by volunteering at school events. Your time and support help make our school a better place for everyone.

Parents and Citizens Association (P&C)

Our P&C is a group of parents, carers and school community members. They assist with school planning, fundraising, events and volunteering. Our P&C works in partnership with our school to promote the interests of our school community.

Joining the P&C a great way to meet other families, get involved and contribute to our school's future. We would love to have you on board!

Our Mission
To foster a connected and inclusive school community and support initiatives that make a real difference in the educational experience of our children.

Everyone is welcome

The Mortlake Public School P&C values diverse voices and perspectives. We encourage all parents and carers to take part, whether you're new to the school or a long-time member of the community.

Together, we can make a real difference to the learning environment, wellbeing and success of our kids.

Why get involved?

The P&C plays an important role in strengthening our school community. We:

  • Raise funds to support programs, facilities and equipment beyond what government funding can provide
  • Contribute ideas and give feedback on school initiatives and policies
  • Build connections between families, students and staff
  • Create opportunities for fun and memorable school events
  • Support one another in raising happy, confident kids

Some of the incredible resources the P&C has funded over the years include:

  • Smartboards and laptops for every classroom
  • Outdoor play equipment and sun shelters
  • Air-conditioning in all classrooms
  • Literacy and numeracy programs
  • Security fencing, solar panels and more
What does the P&C do?

We lead and support a range of activities throughout the year, including:

  • Fundraising events like raffles, stalls and the annual Walkathon
  • Operating the school uniform shop
  • Applying for grants
  • Gathering parent feedback through surveys
  • Contributing to school planning and improvements

Everyone’s input is valued, whether you can help out regularly, occasionally or just want to stay in the loop.

P&C meetings

Our meetings are open to all parents and carers, and are a great way to stay informed and get involved.

Meetings are held twice per term, alternating between in-person (school library) and online.
Time: 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm

Check out the school calendar to find out when the next meeting will be.

Each meeting includes updates from the Principal, Treasurer and sub-committees, including Uniforms, Fundraising and Grants.

How you can help

We know everyone’s time is limited, and that’s OK! Whether you can help once a year or once a week, there’s a place for you.

Ways you might contribute:

  • Help at a fundraising event (like the Easter Raffle or Christmas Bingo)
  • Volunteer in the uniform shop
  • Share your skills with one of our sub-committees
  • Provide feedback or ideas at a meeting
  • Spread the word and encourage others to get involve.

Volunteer register

Your personal details are always kept private and only used to contact you about volunteering.

What can I do?

We understand that every family has different commitments, priorities, and interests and that your time is precious.

Mortlake Public School P&C aims to create various ways for parents, carers and families to support and participate in initiatives to enhance our children's school experience.

We would be very appreciative of your contribution, whether you have one day a week or one day a year.

Fundraising at Mortlake Public School
