What our parents say
This year marked our family’s first experience in the school system, with our eldest child commencing Kindergarten. Prior to attending school tours, we were undecided about whether we would pursue public education or consider alternative schooling options. From our first interaction during the school tour, we felt confident that Mortlake Public School would provide the environment we were seeking for our children, and the school has exceeded our expectations.
Our child’s experiences across all aspects of the school have been positive, including classroom learning, library, music and learning support. They are invested in the school’s Positive Behaviour for Learning framework, proud to be part of the school community and excited about the many opportunities available in creative arts, STEM and leadership. Most importantly, the school has fostered a genuine love of learning, which was our greatest hope for this year.
It is clear that strong leadership, high expectations and a culture of care underpin the success of the school. Communication has always been timely, thoughtful and supportive, which has strengthened our confidence and trust in the school community"
Each year, schools across our network recognise staff who make an outstanding contribution to public education. Ms Krestovsky and Ms Di Donato are celebrated for their creativity, leadership, and dedication to our school community.

Academic excellence
Our school offers a high-quality, well-rounded education. Our exceptional academic results demonstrate our commitment to students’ academic success.
NAPLAN results for our 2024 Year 3 and 5 cohorts demonstrate the strength of our teaching programs and our commitment to continuous improvement. The introduction of Teaching and Learning Community (TLC) sessions - focused on clear learning intentions and success criteria in reading - alongside recent curriculum reforms, has empowered teachers to deliver high-impact, explicit instruction.
As a result, we saw a 26% uplift in Grammar and Punctuation and a 9% uplift in Reading during the 2023–24 reporting period.
Over 80% of our students are achieving in the 'exceeding' or 'strong' bands in Reading and Writing, and more than 70% are performing at these levels in Numeracy. In Reading, Mortlake Public School is performing 7.5% above our Statistically Similar School Group (SSSG), a clear reflection of our academic focus and effective teaching strategies.
Mortlake Public School’s NAPLAN results consistently outperform those of other local primary schools, highlighting the exceptional quality of our teaching and learning programs. Our students achieve at significantly higher levels across all key areas, particularly in Reading, Writing, and Numeracy. For families in the area who value strong academic outcomes, Mortlake Public School stands out as the clear first choice - offering not only outstanding results but also a supportive and future-focused learning environment.
